Agastya Academy Celebrated with Green Champion Award for Environmental Leadership

We are pleased to share that Agastya Academy has been awarded the Green Champion Award 2023 by the Government of Tamil Nadu. This recognition highlights the eco-friendly practices and sustainability initiatives integrated throughout our 30-acre campus.

The government acknowledged our sustainable efforts, including our eco-friendly buildings constructed using Porotherm clay blocks for natural insulation, as well as our rainwater harvesting systems with a total capacity of 5 lakh liters.

Our organic farm, Adhi Vanam, spanning 3 acres, follows sustainable agricultural practices, producing fresh vegetables for the school kitchen and supporting student-led products through Agastya Naturals. Organic methods like solar-powered drip irrigation and in-house production of vermicompost and fish amino acids enhance the farm’s efficiency while maintaining environmental integrity.

Additionally, the campus is home to over 43 bird species, 150 farm insects, and 750 trees, reinforcing biodiversity and habitat conservation. The introduction of a biogas plant and self-wicking beds marks further progress toward our zero-waste goals, along with efforts in recycling and water conservation through the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).

The Green Champion Award serves as recognition of these ongoing initiatives and motivates the academy to continue advancing sustainable practices. We are grateful for this acknowledgment and look forward to further contributing to a greener, healthier future while fostering environmentally conscious students.
